Week 4 Update (4/24/08 – 4/30/08) from Red Bull Renewal project manager Steve Miller:
Another week is has been logged in at Hyline Raceway. Looking around the venue and seeing the completed track is a great feeling. Hearing the buzz is even better. Overall the project has been a complete charge on the system. The time invested by many will come to life on May 7th at 2pm for the launch of the Red Bull Renewal. I really look forward to see everyone enjoy the facility and put some laps in myself!!
Looking back at the week here is what went down:
We closed the track down to riding on Friday so we could focus on prep work and getting the details completed. In my opinion having the track closed is also building anticipation for the launch on May 7th...!!
Retaining walls were completed by the GVDR members so I could complete the last few features of the track. Thank you to everyone involved for making this happen.
James at Peak Painting came out on Mon. and Tues. to paint the dog house, announcer tower and lap counting stand. He had to deal with some serious wind as a storm was rolling in. James pushed through like a champ and made it happen. He was on a time crunch as he was leaving to Vegas for the Supercross finals.
The GVDR members finished painting the retaining walls and picnic benches.
Matt Keller has been charging hard building frames for our partners to be represented on the track. When he was tired of framing he would jump in the CAT skid steer and polish some of the infield areas for me. Thanks Matt.
Jesse and Kyle painted the start gates red this weekend after Avery and Cole cleaned up the start area around the gates.
The front entrance of Hyline has a new face lift. A huge wooden arch way has been completed and installed thanks to the Van Dyke family. This entry structure will give the members and the guest riders a taste of the improvements to the facility as they enter the property. Very appreciated!! Thanks Van Dykes.
The Big Sky Sun a local newspaper printed an article for Hyline Raceway and the Red Bull Renewal project. 35,000 copies went out all over Montana and the response has been great.
Scott Lopker from Red Bull has been working on the communications plan for May 7th and has some great things planned. Thanks Lopker for all your efforts. Everyone is stoked on your efforts and we look forward to getting you on a bike on May 7th!!
TMC came on board this week and donated 250 yards of gravel for out parking behind the start area. Joe Horner worked hard to make this happen and had his dump truck and driver ED hauling all Friday. The parking area is now elevated and mud free!!!
Sunshine Irrigation has been out this week putting the final watering heads on the track and installing the valves for the track water and the water truck fill spout. Mason, Brian and Kurt have put in a lot of effort and time into this project. They understand the importance of water at a motocross track!! The final pump will be installed on Tues. May 6th. Once we get water in the ditch we will be ready to apply water to the track. In the meantime we have the clubs water truck and H&H Earthworks water truck to prep the track for the grand opening on Wed. May 7th.
Fencing behind the start to separate the dirt from the gravel has also been installed this weekend.
Final prep on the track has started this weekend. Shaping and fine tuning the track has been fun. Going back and polishing the track takes time, but its great to see how well the track has held up.
Cameron and I have spread wood chips in some of the corners. We have limited amounts of wood chips and more is needed. This will continue to be a work in progress for the track and the club.
The SCS Vinyl works crew has been working long hours to design and create the visual face lift of the track. Talk about dedication to a project Devin, Paul, Roos and Josh have been charging hard to create the new look of Hyline Raceway. From what I have seen come out of the creative dept. is excellent!! Good work guys. They are looking to install all signage on Mon. and Tues. just prior to the grand opening.
The last few days will be busy for sure. Chase and I will be prepping the track while the rest of the GVDR members, SCS Vinylworks and Red Bull complete the branding on all the structures. .
If there is one thing that I would like to say to everyone that reads this is: " together everyone accomplishes more" I am proud to have been a part of this Red Bull Renewal project as it has truly revived the Bozeman moto community and I feel its spreading over a 3 states region!!
Look forward to seeing everyone enjoy Hyline Raceway on May 7th. From beginners to the pros, this track, facility and club is for you!! See you all there and look forward to seeing some new faces.
As for all the clubs partners and sponsors, this project would not have happened without you. I want to personally thank them all for stepping up to the plate and helping revive the Bozeman moto scene!!!
See you on May 7th. Gates open at 2pm!! Early birds get the worm!!!!!!
