4/23/08 --- As i am typing this recap, I am looking outside and its dumping snow!  Snow has been a weekly reminder that we are in Montana. Anything can happen here!

This week has been another great step forward for the Red Bull Renewal project and the GVDR club.   We have members out working on the structures and doing the little things that make a difference.  We closed the track down completely on Saturday to dig the trenches. install the pipe and watering system. Over the last few days we have completed installing all the pipe and back filling the trenches.  The watering system is going to be the heartbeat of the track. Once this is dialed it will all come to life!!

Its great to see the improvements and things happening.  We have had old club members stop out because of the "word of mouth" of whats happening.  They have come up to me and stated:  "This is incredible Steve!  We thought this club was going to die. You and others are bringing so much life to it.  Thank you.”  Hearing this makes me smile and feel good about what we are doing.

The track work is almost complete.  I am waiting for the tunnels to be completed so I can finish the step up and the ant hill.  Currently I have started to work on some of the finer cleanup details.  We want to make the property shine for May 7th!!!

Water update:  We are waiting for the ditch master to open the main valve and allow irrigation water to run down to the Hyline ditch. This will allow us to test the watering system and dial it in.  We are hoping this happens by May 1st, but we have no way to guarantee this.  I have tried but it’s outside of our hands. The "ditch master" will turn it on when they are ready!  Normally they have it open around the 1st of May.

With this uncertainty, I have created and implemented a back up plan for water. We have 2 water trucks and a location to fill them up to get the track watered and prepped for the opening day.  GVDR member, Joe Horner, has been a big help with implementing this back up plan, but ultimately we all hope to use the NEW watering system and throw out the back up!!

Wild West Nationals update:  I talked to Tina Mortensen on Tuesday for about 30 minutes. She was so excited to hear the news and is looking to see if her family can come up for one of our events.  We discussed in detail whats happening here and a few of our goals.  She is excited and wants to cross promote through the Wild West Nationals website.   Bringing a WWN to Bozeman is a work in progress, but headed in the right direction!!!

Anaconda track owner, Steve Johnson called me yesterday to catch up. He has been hearing that this new track is "the latest and greatest".  He was excited and is planning on coming on May 7th.  The Anaconda opener was a rough one for their club. Weather was terrible and prevented people from traveling to the race.  Saturday they were able to race but Sunday they cancelled due to the snow.  With the late start to this year’s season, we discussed the idea of creating a southwest Montana series in the fall for Bozeman, Livingston, Butte, Anaconda and maybe Dillon.  More to come on this…

Memberships for the club continues to sell. The club is real happy with this. One thing that a few board members and I discussed last night is working memberships and non-working memberships.  The board members are seeing that that same members are working and all the others are not.  They are looking at fine tuning their membership details and having 25 working members and the rest would be non working members for a higher rate. This is a work in progress and probable for 2009.

Overall, week 3 has been a progressive and positive week for the Red Bull Renewal project and GVDR club.  I am looking forward to the next two weeks. The facility will come to life with the paint and branding.  Hearing the updates from the rest of the team is exciting. We all complement each other and this is one project everybody is excited about!!!   I am so stoked for the May 7th Launch!!  bbbrrraaaaaaaaph.  Calls are going out and friends are coming this way!!

Step by step, we are making a big difference to the core moto community and its being noticed and appreciated!!! We are learning a lot of little things that will only benefit the program.  Look forward to good things!!!  Gracias Scott Lopker and Red Bull.
